This three-day workshop introduces cordwood construction through a combination of instruction and hands-on building at Talking Water Nature Retreat. Participants explore how wood and mortar are used to create cordwood walls while learning practical techniques that can be applied to cabins, sheds, homes, and other small structures. No prior experience is required.

Core principles of cordwood construction; material preparation and selection; wall-building basics; design considerations; permitting and best-practice considerations; and applications for cabins, homes, sheds, and other small structures. Participants will also tour completed cordwood buildings and a wood kiln.
